LEAGUE FINAL CHAMPIONS
Congratulations to all of the league champions and participants. The tables below include league final races through Wednesday at Pierce. We’ll continue to update as race results are published. Photos coming soon as well!
The first LA City league finals results posted on Monday as the Western League held their league finals at Pierce College and Palisades dominated, winning all 6 team and individual league titles.
Varsity winners Max Fields and Mollie Wittenberg posted the best times at Pierce this year. James Jimenez (Venice) was the top scoring non-Palisades runner in the Varsity race. In the girls Varsity race Venice’s Lidia Prokopovych-Shchepetkin (4th - 19.47.8) and Elin Nowak (5th - 19.51.4) were the top non-Palisades finishers. This was Prokopovych-Shchepetkin’s first high school race so definitely someone to watch.

A huge day of racing today, Wednesday, as 3 leagues combined to run 2 varsity races that had some of the City’s top talent going head-to-head for the first and last time this year. Marshall, Kennedy, Monroe, Eagle Rock, Canoga Park, Verdugo Hills, Reseda, and Franklin were all in the same race and the performances were truly awesome.
Monroe dominated the varsity races winning team and individual honors in both the boys and girls races. William Rojas continues to whittle away his time on Pierce and his 16:35.3 is 10 seconds off his Pierce course PR. Leyla Huerta also ran close to her PR on Pierce to win for the girls.
Marshall and Eagle Rock dominated team competitions in the Northern League with the 2 teams splitting the top awards. Francisco Rodriguez continues to put down top LA City times with a 16:28.0 to win the Northern League individual title. Keely Miyamoto posted the 3rd fastest time on Pierce this year to claim the Northern League individual title.
Jude Sandrige (Reseda) and Frieda Cedillo (Kennedy) both made big statements today, winning the combined races and taking the individual league championships. Canoga Park won both of the team varsity races with Dulce Gonzales (19:34.6) and Carlos Argueta (17:54.5) leading the Hunters scoring.
